This specification defines performance requirements for the electrolytic or non-electrolytic disposition of zinc coatings. This specification was released originally to define performance requirements for zinc coatings where corrosion protective and/or decorative finishes on ferrous surfaces are required. A supplementary hexavalent chromium free treatment may be applied to zinc coated parts to retard the formation of white corrosion products.
