This specification allows the use of hexavalent chromium. The hexavalent chromium free versions of this specification are DX551200 and DX221600. Specification DX550200 describes the basic requirements of electroplated zinc coatings on iron and steel substrates. An option to use mechanical plating is also included as part of this specification.
